He passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on July 23, 2025. He lived his entire life in Houston, graduating from Spring Branch High School. Randy worked in law enforcement from 1968 to 1979, with the Houston Police Department. He was a Sergeant when he retired, after working many years with Harris County Constable Office Precinct 4. He also owned and operated Randy’s BBQ Restaurant. He had a true passion for cooking and was good at it. He loved trying new recipes and telling you all about them. One of his specialties was his homemade beef jerky. It was truly delicious. He also loved fishing, whether it was off shore or freshwater.
Throughout his days at home he loved riding around his neighborhood on his newly bought scooter. He enjoyed stopping and talking to whoever was in their yard, and boy could he talk. He also always looked forward to meeting the guys once a month at Goodson’s for dinner.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents James W Brown and Shirley Weir Brown and his sister Joanna Taylor.
Randy is survived by his daughter Kari Renae Brown and fiancé Darrell Perkins; his son Kevin Dee Brown and wife Rosalie Brown; 3 granddaughters Megan Reed Rowlett; Shelby Ady and Anthony Ady; Anna Brown and fiancé Devlin Sisemore; 5 great grandchildren Kaden Reed, Addison Rowlett, Jameson Rowlett, Rozalynn Ady and Conner Ady and his beloved fur baby Jay.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 100 Club of Houston.
