Gilbert Joseph Cote passed away at home on July 24, 2025. He was born April 16, 1958 in Methuen Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Bourque) Cote. He was raised in Atkinson New Hampshire and Graduated with a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont School of Medicine. He then moved to Houston Texas where he established a rewarding career for 26 years as a Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
After retiring in 2018 he took up a healthy lifestyle with a vengeance and could be seen walking three times a day, rain or shine. It was there that he came to know so many neighbors and their pets who brought joy to his task. He also enjoyed travelling and sharing the photos with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula Holton, who was only too happy to turn over the travel planning responsibilities to his expert hands.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister, Shirley Leith, brother Steven and his wife Guiling Cote , 2 nephews and wives Jonathan and Taryn Leith, Aaron and Savannah Holton, a step-niece Anqi Zhou, a brother in-law James Holton, and sisters in-law, Patricia and Theresa Holton. He was preceded in death by his brother in-law David Leith.
