of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Jean was born in El Campo, Texas on June 25, 1943. After graduating from El Campo High School in 1961, Jean worked many years as a bookkeeper for a physician group and later as a word processor for a law firm. Jean loved gardening and became a Master Gardener. She became an active member of the Greatwood Ladies Garden Club. She was also an avid reader and participated in several book clubs. She also enjoyed crafting, especially sewing, ceramics and painting. Spending time with family filled her with much joy. Her strong Christian faith was evident to all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents: John and Mary (nee Senkyrik)Sykora, her 3 brothers: Johnnie W. (Marion), Raymond (Mary) and George (Joyce) Sykora, brother-in-law, Dexter Polk and her son, Kenneth Berndt.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bobby Rich; her daughter, Donna Taylor (and Kirk) and son, Kent Rich; her sister, Mary Ann Polk; grandchildren, Austin (and Jessica) Taylor and Kirsten Taylor; and 4 grandchildren, Jay, Abbi, Jamie and Jordan Taylor and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to sincerely thank Vantage Hospice team who cared for Jean so well.
A memorial service for Jean will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 400 Jackson St., Richmond TX 77469, at a time and date to be determined.
