Our sweet Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend, Estelle Wargo, finished her work here on Earth, and is celebrating life eternal with our Lord and Savior. Estelle crossed into Heaven Feb. 5th, 2018. She was born Mar. 6th, 1918 in Indiana, and was the daughter of George and Bertha Michalik residing in East Chicago, Indiana throughout her youth.
Estelle met her beloved husband of 62 years, Bill Wargo, due to a misdialed phone number that he placed and she answered. The rest, as they say, is history! They were married Aug. 31st, 1940 and made their family home in Cedar Lake, Indiana. They had 3 children, Billy, Donna and David Wargo. The family were active members of Holy Name Catholic Church of Cedar Lake, and the Gleaners Life Insurance Society.
Estelle was a working woman throughout her life, but had the time and skill to manage a growing family and a career. Both she and Bill also invested in their Church work and charitable work with The Gleaners. They made many dear friends within these communities.
3 years after Bill’s passing in 2002, Estelle moved to Houston, Texas to live with her daughter, Donna Watkins. Her son, David Wargo, also lived in the Houston area, and both the Watkins and Wargo families enjoyed several precious years with “Grandma Wargo”. With her health declining, Estelle resided her final 2 years at Autumn Years Assisted Living Home in Houston, Texas.
Estelle enjoyed life’s simple things: family, friends, and a great meal. She also had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Bahrain, Mexico, and her Mother’s native Poland. Her life was one well lived.
Her husband, Bill, parents, and two sisters, (Lottie Justak and Cecile Wojcik), preceded her in death. She is survived by her 3 children, William A Wargo, (Joanne), Donna Watkins, (Gary), and David Wargo, (Cindy). 6 Grandchildren and several loving Great-Grandchildren also survive. She also leaves to mourn loved ones, friends, and caretakers who are related to her at heart, if not by blood.
Estelle’s final resting place will be next to her beloved husband, Bill, in Indiana.
There will be a Celebration of Life reception Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:30-3:30pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Rd Houston, Texas 77077.
