Emmitt Roy Pearson, age 77, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 under the care of family, friends, and Houston Hospice after a long battle of cancer. God has prepared a place for Emmitt.
Emmitt will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Weathers Pearson; son Robert (Kristyn) their son Preston Pearson and daughter Hattie Pearson; son Kenneth (Abbey) their daughters, Makayla Bullard (KyAnna) and Makenna Bullard (David Ruiz, partner). Emmitt also had one great grandson, Cohen, and one great granddaughter on the way. Two sisters of Emmitt, Shirley Stockton of Friendswood, and Charline Appleby (James) of Alice, Texas will most assuredly miss their big brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Kenneth Pearson and Lois Ray Puyear Pearson.
Emmitt was born in Freer, Texas and his home town was Alice, Texas. After high school graduation, Emmitt entered and served under the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force where he served in Montana, California, San Antonio and San Angelo, Texas, and Guam, USA, where he distinguished himself by meritorious service and was presented the Bronze Star Medal. With the Viet Nam War ending, Emmitt chose to honorably discharge from the USAF having served ten years.
After he settled in Alvin, Texas, Emmitt worked as a mechanic of construction and high reach equipment and quickly moved into territorial sales of equipment in the southern United States which eventually afforded sales travel to England, Mexico, Dubai, and Canada.
Emmitt had three profound life passions he enjoyed and looked forward to each day:
Number One was the enjoyment of modified midget racing that supplied the sport challenge for his self, his son, Kenneth, and many other drivers throughout 40 years of hobby racing. If there is a race team in heaven, Emmitt has joined them.
Number Two was chauffeuring his grandchildren, Preston, and Hattie, to and from Friendswood Schools daily. He and his Australian Shepherd, Sassy Girl, were on the job to make the school bell ring on time for all riders. Best days would be with a personal bag of donut holes. The smiles, jokes, and swell times with Pawpaw and Sassy had great stories and memories made.
Number Three passion was taking Australian Shepherd, Sassy Girl on her evening ride throughout Friendswood’s Quaker’s Landing neighborhood, meeting and greeting his neighbors. Sassy Girl will surely miss Emmitt and without doubt, will someday join her master for heavenly golf cart rides once again.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Emmitt Roy Pearson by his family. Emmitt’s final rest will be at the Houston National Cemetery under coordination of Neptune Society.
