Edward Robert Melbourne

October 2, 1948 – June 5, 2026
Obituary of Edward Robert Melbourne
Edward Robert Melbourne, born October 2, 1948, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, and went home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior.

Known to family and friends simply as Ed, he was a man of deep faith, unwavering dedication, and endless curiosity. He loved sharing his faith with others, reading and listening to the Bible, spending time fishing and boating, and, most of all, cherishing every moment with his beloved wife, Machele, of 43 years. His greatest joy was his family, including his wife, son, son-in-law, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, and sister.

Ed was the person everyone called when something needed to be fixed. Whether it was a car, an appliance, an electrical issue, or a project no one else could figure out, he always seemed to have the answer. He possessed a remarkable ability to explain even the most complicated tasks with patience and clarity, often helping others solve problems right over the phone. He especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge of automobiles with his son-in-law and grandsons, teaching them not only practical skills but also the importance of caring for and providing for their families with love and dedication, just as he faithfully did throughout his own marriage. One of Ed’s greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a special love for children, but the bond he shared with his own grandchildren was truly extraordinary. No matter how much pain he was in, he always made time for them. Whether it was a phone call, a visit, or teaching them one of his many hobbies, he treasured every moment they spent together. Many of the skills, traditions, and values he passed on to them continue to be carried forward today and will remain part of his legacy for generations to come.

To those who loved him most, he was affectionately known as Pop, Daddy, Grandpa, and Grampy—titles he wore with great pride. His love, guidance, patience, and unwavering devotion were among the greatest gifts he gave his family. He was truly a blessing, and his influence will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those who were fortunate enough to call him theirs.

Throughout his life, Ed developed an impressive range of skills and accomplishments. He was a private pilot, licensed electrician, air-conditioning technician, mechanic, IT professional, and talented pianist. Yet despite mastering so many trades and hobbies, he never stopped seeking new challenges. Just a few months before his passing, he had begun learning to play the bass guitar simply for the joy of learning something new.

One of his final wishes was simply that his beautiful wife, Machele, knew how much he loved her and that she would be taken care of after he passed. He loved his Honey with all his heart.

One of Ed’s proudest accomplishments was becoming a Master Mason. For more than 30 years, he faithfully attended meetings and was honored to be part of an organization that reflected many of the values he held dear throughout his life.

Ed will be remembered for his faith, his kindness, his wisdom, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. The lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the example he set will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

In accordance with Ed’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. He desired to spend his final days surrounded by his immediate family. While many of the family members and friends he loved dearly had gone before him, those who remain will forever cherish the memories, laughter, guidance, and love he brought into their lives.
