Edgar (Eddie) Leroy Smith, a man who lived with unmatched passion and an insatiable zest for life, passed away in the early hours of the morning of May 2nd, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, hard work, and love. Eddie’s journey was one of extraordinary experiences, boundless energy, and a relentless pursuit of living life to the fullest. Born with a fearless spirit, Eddie began his career as a roughneck in the oil industry, where his grit and determination propelled him to quickly rise through the ranks. His work ethic was legendary, a defining trait that inspired all who knew him. Yet, Eddie’s life was far more than his profession-it was a tapestry of thrilling pursuits and adventures. He traveled the country making friends everywhere he went and even took to the skies, earning his wings as a pilot. Fast cars, motorcycles, top- notch watercraft and even the adrenaline of bull riding were among the many passions that fueled his days. Eddie’s love for life was infectious, and he embraced every moment with joy and enthusiasm. Whether he was chasing a new horizon or sharing stories with family and friends, his presence was a gift. In his final days, though his body slowed, his spirit continues to live on. His loved ones find comfort imagining him now, dancing with Jesus in a new body, and fresh cowboy boots free and full of the vitality he always embodied. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his spirit forward: his wife Glenda Smith, three children, Becky Zane, Michael Smith, and Lee Smith; his grandson, Blake Craft; and his great-grandchildren, Nora, Wallace, Eden, and Truett. Eddie’s life was a testament to living boldly, and his memory will forever inspire those who knew him.
