Dorothy Jean Lerner, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend passed away on February 11, 2017 in Spring, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother (Renata Braune) and father (Ernest Wilde). She leaves behind her husband, partner, and sole-mate, Alan Lerner of 42 years, her children, extended family and their spouses; Becky (Frankie) Ochoa of Dickinson, TX., Steve (Nancy) Smith of Sachse, TX., Robert (Karen) Smith of Garland, TX., Mark (Judi) Lerner of Dallas, TX., Ronald (Paula) Lerner of Houston, TX., and Kenneth (Nancy) Lerner of Madison, WI., and her beloved grandchildren; Chris Maltba of Houston, TX., Kayla, and Crista Ochoa of Dickinson, TX., and Tara (David) Coleman of Amarillo, TX..
Her final days were spent surrounded by family members, friends and loved ones. Dorothy had touched so many people throughout her memorable life and will be truly missed by all that knew her. She was born in Olney Texas as an only child. During her earlier years she moved with her family to Houston and later to El Paso, TX where she eventually met her future husband and best friend while working at Hi-Way Auto Supply. Al & Dorothy were happily married while living in El Paso and later moved (to be closer to kids, and grandkids) to Huntsville, TX ultimately settling in Spring, TX.
Dorothy is remembered for her generosity, kindness, patience, cooking, and compassion she showed everyone she met. She loved gardening, her family, computer games, and the holidays. Al & Dorothy shared a favorite song – Amazed by Lonestar. Dorothy will be laid to rest at the Veterans cemetery in Houston, TX.
