Dixie was born in Arkansas City, Ks. to Harry and Bobbe Betts. Dixie grew up in Ponca City, Ok. the second of three children including sister Barbara and brother Harry. At the age of 16 she married Hugh Oburn who joined the Air Force and was stationed in Huntstaton, England. When Dixie joined him there she had many challenges as a young wife and mother being away from all of her family in the states.
The family returned to the U. S.in 1955. Hugh and Dixie set up house in Mulvane, Ks. and joined the family business, Oburn's Meats. In 1961, after her 2 children started school, Dixie decided to join the local bank and thus her career started. In January 1970 the family landed in Houston and Dixie continued with her successful banking career for the next 29 years, retiring in 1990. While taking country and western dance lessons, she met her life partner, Bob Klink. They married in 1992 blending Dixie and her two kids with Bob's four kids plus spouses and children. Bob and Dixie played a lot of bridge, attended church weekly, went dancing and traveled the world. They spent 20 wonderful years together before Bob passed in 2012.
She continued to play bridge and attend church. However, Hurricane Harvey’s arrival in 2017 resulted in her house flooding and brought a change in Dixie's behavior, a loss of memory. She was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson's disease in 2018 but her graciousness and kindness never left her. In late February she was hospitalized, placed in hospice and came home.
She is survived by her son Harry Oburn and wife Kathryn and her daughter Gail Oburn as well as her extended family Dale and Gretchen Klink, Linda and Steve Guckian, Karen and Dave Ketchum, Terri and Wayne Radabaugh and 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Windwood Presbyterian Church on May 22, 2026. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery
