

Diane R. Tanking, age 67, of Houston, TX, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Diane was born on February 6, 1958, in Marysville, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Ruthann (Smith) Tanking. She attended Lourdes Central Catholic School in Nebraska City, NE, graduating with the class of 1976. She attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and later graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Industrial Management. While working, Diane earned her master’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Houston.
During her extensive career, she was a partner with Ernst & Young, V4 Consulting, and PwC. Her last role was as a Health Care Consultant at Witt/Kieffer.
Diane married George (Blanten) Filak on November 28, 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Blanten; her son, Austin Filak of Washington, D.C.; her mother, Ruthann Tanking of Richmond, TX; her sister, Barb Orton of Richmond, TX; her brother, Jim Tanking (Lori) of Indian Wells, CA; her sisters-in-law, Stefani (Barbara Rice) Filak of Alexandria, VA, and Carolyn (James) Royan of London, England; her nieces, Chelsea (Ryan) Sullivan of Euless, TX; Abby (fiancé Grant Ellis) Tanking of Papillion, NE; and Leonie Royan of London, England; her nephews, Zach (Rachel) Orton of Buford, GA; Drew Tanking of Breckenridge, CO; and Kai Royan of London, England; four great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Diane loved her dog, Naylie, and all Husker sports, especially football and volleyball.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Tanking, on December 4, 2011; her mother-in-law, Georgann Tims Filak, on February 26, 2019; and her father-in-law, George Filak, on January 31, 2022.
A funeral Mass is planned on December 11th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston, TX, at 10:00 a.m., with a rosary to precede the Mass at 9:00 a.m.
A memorial service is planned for next spring at the Shrine of the Holy Family in Gretna, NE, for Midwest relatives and friends.
