David Carl Hollrah was born on June 8, 1948 to Vic and Dottie Hollrah in Enid, Oklahoma. Growing up in Texas with his two younger brothers, Jim (deceased) and John, the Hollrah boys lived a life out loud, full of adventures and laughter.
David attended the University of Texas in Austin and Harvard Law School, and built a thriving legal practice in Houston, Texas, where he raised his family. He also became an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, serving in leadership roles in the church and in the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod for many years. David had a beautiful bass voice and enjoyed singing in the Church choir and chorus. He also loved British comedies and making those around him laugh at his dad jokes
David passed away peacefully at Houston Hospice on October 20 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Susan Turner, his children Kendall Hollrah (Britta), and Lauren Hollrah (Dan), his step-children, Kate Turner (Gareth), and Josh Turner (Kathryn), and his grandchildren, Annette and Zell Hollrah, Henry and Emma Turner, and Emil and Julian Turner, and his brother, John (Kate Lair).
We will miss his strength, his intelligence, his humor, and his natural capability to teach love and acceptance. We will love and miss him forever and always.
A memorial and burial service is planned at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Blvd in Houston, Texas on January 5, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
