Dale Coy Steed

Dale C. Steed, age 89, of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 10, 2026. Dale was born in Houston, Harris County, Texas, to Blanche and Grady Steed. Over the course of his 89 years, he built a life centered around family and left behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Dale shared 66 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Anne G. Steed, before her passing in December 2023. Their many decades together were an extraordinary chapter of Dale's life care partnership that spanned more than half a century and created the family and memories that became their lasting legacy.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Catherine Steed Caufield; his chosen son-in-law, Rusty Caufield; his son, Douglas C. Steed; his grandchildren, Jack Steed and Amanda Steed, and his faithful furbaby companion, Shadow. (Special thank you to Kayla Watkins for taking in Shadow!!)

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne G. Steed; his parents, Blanche and Grady Steed; his brother and sister-in-law, Lynn Kayo and Dorothy Steed; and his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ed Lau.

One of Dale's great pleasures in life was golf. He loved spending time on the golf course and enjoyed the game throughout his life. Golf brought him many happy days, good times, great friends, and memories, and it remained something he truly loved.

Those who knew Dale knew that he could also be stubborn and proudly so. He knew his own mind, had his own way of doing things, and once he made up his mind, changing it was no easy task. That determination was simply part of who Dale was, and it is one of the many characteristics his family will remember with both love and a smile.

The Steed Family is often referred to as the Stubborn Steeds for a reason!

Dale will be deeply missed by his family and by all those fortunate enough to have known him. After 89 years, he leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the stories, lessons, laughter, and love that became part of his family's lives.

While saying goodbye is difficult, there is comfort in knowing that the love Dale shared throughout his long life does not end with his passing. His family will carry his memory forward through the stories they tell, the traditions they keep, and the many moments they shared with him.

Catherine would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank-you to Ashley and Garry Russell, Rusty Caufield, Virginia Martinez, Matthew Dupre, Kip Steed Hall, Kay Steed Kimball, Amy Harris, Kim Kramer King, Kristen Butler, and the wonderful staff at the Southern Knights, Tomball, for the love, help, and support they gave Dale and Catherine throughout this past year. Your kindness, time, and willingness to be there when you were needed meant more than words can adequately express and will always be remembered with deep gratitude.

After 66 years of marriage, Dale and Anne are together once again. Dale passed away just six days before Anne's birthday on August 16. His family finds comfort in imagining that, after being apart since December 2023, Dale made it to Heaven just in time to celebrate Anne's birthday with her in person this year.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Dale's honor to Houston Pets Alive or to a charity of your choice.

Rest peacefully, Dad. Give Mom a kiss for us and wish her a happy birthday. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
