The man who never met a stranger. Curtis William Carver was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1952, to Margaret and James Carver. Along with his older brother Gary, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when Curtis was 2 years old. They would welcome his younger sister Paula in Tulsa. He was active in baseball and football in his youth, but it was his love for bowling that he inherited from his parents. When he was 16 he would meet his future bride Pamela Coley while both were in high school.
Curtis went to Oklahoma State University to begin his college career. There he became a member of Phi Kappa Psi and was a member of the OSU Bowling team with the nickname “Showboat”. While at OSU, Curtis and Pam would marry in 1973 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Curtis began as a paper boy at a young age. He began his professional career at Arthur Young and Cities Service in Tulsa, before moving to Sabine Corporation in Dallas. He spent most of his career at Citation Oil & Gas in Houston, where he worked for over 25 years. He ended his career with Whistler Energy before retiring.
Pam and Curtis Carver welcomed their first child, Kimberly Coley in 1977. Curtis Ryan would be born in 1979. Lindsey Madge would join them in 1982. All three were born in Tulsa. Through his career in the oil and gas industry the family slowly moved south before settling in Spring, Texas in 1988. Curtis loved being involved in his children’s lives. You would find him supporting Kimberly, Ryan, and Lindsey in everything they did.
Kim would marry Shawn in 2003. They have 2 girls, Sloan Avery and Sutton Coley. Ryan would marry Lacey in 2012. They have 3 children, Tate Ryan, Sally Catherine, and Cooper Lynn. Lindsey would marry Jon in 2016. They have 2 children, Samuel Winston and Molly Ryan.
Curtis loved his grandchildren. They brought him so much joy and laughter. In his later years, you could find him at the dance recitals, softball games, soccer games, and baseball games of his beloved grandchildren.
Curtis was a true Oklahoma State Cowboy. He bled orange. For fifty years of OSU football, you could find Pam and Curtis most Saturdays at Boone Pickens Stadium rooting for the Cowboys as loyal season ticket holders. If OSU was playing, it was on the TV in the Carver house no matter the sport...even golf. Curtis embodied the loyal and true spirit of Oklahoma State University. Saddle up, time to ride! Go Pokes!
