HAROLD GENE BRAUDRICK

Harold Gene Braudrick was born in Caddo, Oklahoma on January 27, 1926 to Henry Wilson Braudrick and Lela Beatrice Rogers Braudrick. Gene was the youngest of seven children who have all predeceased him. Gene also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who presented him with great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family moved to Chickasha where Gene spent his childhood and later to Oklahoma City where he graduated from Central High School. He showed an early interest in music and the arts, teaching himself to play the piano and participating in productions.
During World War II, Gene joined the Navy and was trained as a surgical corpsman in Santa Barbara, California. On returning to Oklahoma City, he joined the staff at WKY radio and was a pioneer in transforming that station to the new television media. Gene’s television career included assignments at KTOK, Oklahoma City; KOTV, Tulsa; WBAP Fort
Worth; and KHOU in Houston and Galveston. He became the manager of the CBS affiliate – KHOU -- in Galveston until its closure. Gene then moved to Houston and began a second career with Saudi Aramco Oil Company. He served as a telecommunication specialist for
Saudi Aramco in Houston and Saudi Arabia.
ROLAND LEE LILLIE, JR
Feb. 27, 1939 to Feb. 14, 2018
Roland Lee Lillie, Jr., was born on February 27, 1939, to Roland Lee Lillie, Sr., and Eunice Lillie in Rockville Center, Long Island, New York. The family later relocated to Houston, Texas. Lee is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Joan Davis. He is survived by his sister Ellen Lillie King, brother-in-law, Brian King and nieces Nanci Lillie, Jody Davis, and
Jennifer Bartosh.
Lee attended the public schools of Houston, Allen Military Academy and Bellaire High School. As a young man, Lee enjoyed staging shows and productions with the neighborhood kids. He was producer, director, stylist and costume designer. He was also involved in the community center drama group.
After an early work affiliation with the Lykes Steam Ship Company, Lee worked at Foley's for twenty years. He also held multiple positions, including Human Resources Manager, with the then known Joske’s Department Store – now Dillards – in Beaumont and the greater Houston area, until his retirement.
LIFE TOGETHER
On September 6, 2014, friends and loved ones gathered to celebrate Gene and Lee’s fifty years of companionship. Together they shared households in Galveston, Coldsping and Houston. Together they enjoyed their dogs, life long learning, gardening and sharing elegant gourmet dinner parties with their friends.
Both Gene and Lee were life long Episcopalians who were constantly active in all aspects of the spiritual and social life of their congregations. During the course of their life together they worshiped at Grace, Galveston; St. Lukes, Livingston/Coldsrping; Palmer, Houston;
Trinity – Midtown Houston; and Christ Church Cathedral. Gene served as chalice bearer, lay reader, vestryman, and senior warden. He had a beautiful singing and speaking voice. Lee’s church life included volunteering where needed, serving as an usher, and most
recently as a sandwich maker for the Trinity Church homeless ministries.
They both enjoyed socializing and working with the Trinity Garden Club community.
Since 2015, they enjoyed the attentive and loving care of the staff of Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services located at 6400 North Braeswood, Houston, Texas 77074. Over the past few years their local care team included long time friends, Mike Laster, Efrain Corzo,
and Andrew Bowen and Gene’s niece, Becky Nickell. Both of their families and the care team would like to thank all the administrative and care giving staff of this wonderful facility.
An Interment Service will take place in the Columbarium of Trinity Episcopal Church – Midtown Houston. All those who cherish their memory are invited to attend a Memorial Service and Holy Eucharist to be held at Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas 77002 at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 14, 2018. A reception for
friends and family will immediately follow at the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make memorial donations to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services, to the Christ Church Cathedral Endowment or to the Trinity Episcopal Church Garden Club.
