Ben D. Stevens of Houston, Texas went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 5, 2019.
Ben was born in San Angelo, Texas on January 13, 1942, to Rex Stevens and Nettie Evans Stevens, the first of 2 sons. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1959; and joined the U. S. Army. Ben proudly served his country in Korea and remained a loyal military supporter for the rest of his life.
While working, Ben attended The University of Texas at Austin, and received his bachelor's degree from The University of Houston Clear Lake in 1978. He received his J. D. from South Texas College of Law in 1981 and was admitted to The Texas Bar Association that same year. Ben worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for many years, before becoming an attorney in private practice.
He was a long time member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Plus, Ben remained a proud Longhorn, from his college days on.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Stevens. He is survived by Paula, his wife of 36 years; his sons Mark of Riverside, California and Andrew of Houston, Texas; daughter Shan Harris and husband Chris of Needville, Texas; grandchildren Hannah and Cole Harris, Sarah, Brittany, Jennifer, Courtney and Makaila, and Eric Booker; and numerous nieces and cousins.
Ben was a beloved son, brother, husband, father and Pop. He will be greatly missed but will be in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Ben to the Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12,2019 at 2:00 in the chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church
