Lee and I have been friends since the 5th grade. The entire Johnson family always made me feel loved and welcome. Summers in Jasper with Bart senior and Katy were always a fun adventure.  I spent so much time over at the Johnson’s house, it felt like Bart and Jimmie were second parents.  Our entire families were very close and most of my favorite childhood memories include the Johnsons. I am glad that Bart is at peace and with Jimmie.  Thanks for a lifetime of memories.

So sorry for Bart's homegoing.

He was a great boss who taught me to be all I could be. 

We worked together in the late 70 's in Houston. He built the  satilitte office from nothing into a major part of the company. 

Many were blessed to learn from him.

Uncle Sonny was kind, smart and funny.  He had a heart of gold.  He adored his sons and his equally amazing wife.  He was a true role model, in a world of folks who all seemed a little lost.  I will always remember his laugh.  He is loved.

Bart and Jimmie in 2010. I miss my friend of 49 years. Many a laugh of missed shots on the racketball court and condolence of missed putts. Fun, family camping trips and professional confidences. I miss you.

My wife and I met Bart in the latter part of 2021 at Central Baptist Church during our Wednesday night prayer meeting. At the close of each service Pastor Sonny would ask that we join together in small groups with those sitting close by to pray for specific things in the church and for our community and for each other. Bart was sitting behind us and we asked him to join us. After introducing ourselves I prayed first and then Bart prayed. When I heard his prayer I knew immediately that he was a prayer warrior. He prayed earnestly for our staff, those who were sick and the shut in's who could no longer come to church. He prayed for our country and for the lost to be saved through salvation in Jesus Christ. This was the beginning of a special friendship. We prayed together for the next 5 or 6 weeks every Wednesday night. Eventually he joined our Sunday bible study class and became a member of our church. Bart was full of questions and added great insight to our class with his comments. It was a pleasure when I taught our class to sit down with him after class each Sunday and listen to his questions and having the opportunity to engage in great conversation with him. Those were special times that I will always treasure. I know our other teachers enjoyed his input as well. He always said that he wanted to stay busy and that he couldn't do the things he used to do to serve in church. But he said one thing he could do was call people on the telephone. And he began to gather the names of people who were sick at home, people who were shut in, people who requested prayer, widows and widowers. He just wanted people to know he was praying for them. They were not alone. He was very caring. He called my wife and I several times when we were sick and going through treatments. These were sweet times that we will never forget. Bart was easy to love. When you meet someone for the first time before you depart you might say it was a pleasure to meet you. Bart was a pleasure.

Uncle Sonny and Aunt Jimmie were such wonderful people and made everyone’s lives better !!! They’re missed so very much but I know without a doubt that Heaven is improved by their presence. Their faith and love has always been an inspiration to us all ! I was blessed to have them as my family !

I met Bart at the YMCA after he retired (for the 5th and final time.)
He was one of the few brave men to join all of us women for daily exercise.
At one point, Marla, our  instructor,called for mens ties to use for a stretch class.
I have one of Barts old ties....Ive stitched it back together several times and I refuse to give it up....sort of like Bart..he didnt give up!  I will keep the tie and Bart in my gym bag and my heart as reminder to Never, Never, Give UP.

Bart was one of my best friends, and the best boss I ever had.  He was like a brother to me. I loved him very deeply.
