Our much beloved husband, father, and Papou, Anthony “Tony” Michael Angelos, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends, in Houston, Texas on June 25th, 2021. He was 78 years young.
Tony was born in Wheeling, West Virginia to Michael and Helen (Mzyk) Angelos on January 8, 1943. He graduated from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Ohio, and went on to earn an accounting degree from The Ohio University at Miami. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Sacramento during the Vietnam War.
He truly treasured his friends. While there were many new ones, throughout his life he kept in touch with childhood friends, classmates and Navy buddies – enjoying their company be it in a phone conversation, trying a new restaurant, traveling, or on the golf course – always sharing stories and laughs, often over cocktails or a good bottle of wine.
Tony always said he was lucky to have married two great women. Alongside his late wife Bonnie Angelos, he accomplished his lifelong dream of becoming a father to two lovely and caring daughters. With Margaret, he had 23 wonderful years of a deeply loving and supportive marriage.
He was always there for his family and encouraged them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He was so proud to be a Papou to his three grandchildren, and never missed a game, a concert, or a chance to brag. They brought him much joy, and in return, the children cherished every moment they had with him.
Despite having to undergo wearying treatment, he showed courage in facing life’s challenges. Tony, always with a smile on his face, stayed strong and was a true hero until the end.
Tony is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughters and their husbands, Megan (Scott Eunson) and Michele (Tommy Phongsy); and his wonderful grandchildren, Sophia, Mitchell & Emily. In addition, Tony left behind a large, loving extended family, which included nieces, nephews and countless longtime friends.
Tony had a number of charities that he supported, Avondale House – Autism Resources and Services, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, where he volunteered for a number of years. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
