

She was born on March 19, 1949 in Omaha, NE to Clyde and Jessie (Higginbotham) Chittenden. Her family moved to Ottumwa, IA, in 1961, where Ann graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1967. She then attended Iowa State University, where she met her future husband, Bob Schmidt of Ocheyedan, IA. They were married on July 1st, 1972.
Ann’s professional career involved working as a vice president for Barnhart Interests, Inc,. managing commercial office property in The Houston Galleria, an upscale urban development area in the Uptown District of Houston, TX.
In her spare time, Ann became an accomplished seamstress and taught classes on how to make your own designs. She also acquired a patent for a special stitch, which she incorporated into designing a special type of stretch glove.
Ann had many close friends for decades. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She was beautiful, creative, meticulous, brilliant, witty and genuine.
Ann is survived by her husband, Bob of Houston, TX; sister, Mary Chittenden of Des Moines, IA; nieces, Carrie, Katie, and Marissa; nephews, Andrew, Jason, John, and Matt;sisters-in-law, Carol (Jay) Lee and Elizabeth Chittenden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cary Chittenden; and sister, Barbara Chittenden.
Ann’s body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
