

Kenneth E. Davis died on October 13th, 2024. He was formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut and served as director and executive of several major corporations: President and Vice Chairman of Stauffer Chemical Company, President and Chief executive of SWS Corporation, Chairman and Chief Executive of Metco, Inc., Executive Vice President of The Perkin-Elmer Company, and President and CEO of Electron Beam Technology, Hayward, California and Physical Electronics of Minneapolis.
He was on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut National Bank, General Ceramics, Inc., Perkin Elmer, Stauffer Chemical Company, Atomica in Germany and UlvacPhi in Japan. He was a director of the Society of Chemical Industry, the Manufacturing Chemists Association, and a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He also served as chairman of the United Fund in Connecticut.
Ken was born November 19, 1935, in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a chemical engineering graduate of The Ohio State University and advanced management at Harvard Business School. During university years, he was associated with the War Research Laboratory and upon graduation became a section head for JANAF (Joint Army-Navy Air Force) Solid Rocket Propulsion Programs. Subsequently, he managed chemical research at Wyandotte Chemical, then was head of chemical engineering at Stauffer Chemical.
He traveled extensively with business in many foreign countries including China, Tibet, India, and Bhutan.
Ken was an avid sailor and sailed the coast of Maine, Long Island Sound, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Chesapeake Bay aboard his sailing vessel, Windsong. He would spend many an hour with a grandchild teaching them seamanship, navigation, and his favorite poems and shanties of the sea.
Survivors include his former wife, Reba; three children: Jennifer, Jeffrey and Gregory; a sister, Joanne and five grandchildren: Amanda, Alyssa, Bradley, Andrew, and Amy.
A private memorial service will be held in Ohio.
