Imelda A Bernard

Imelda A. Bernard passed from this life on November 28, 2024. She was born Imelda Thibault in Attleboro, Massachusetts on 20 November 1920, the fourth of eight children, and lived her early childhood in Fall River.

Following the Great Fire of 1928 her family of 10 moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut. There she quit high school for work to help her family during the Depression. At the age of 18 she married Paul Robert Bernard. He preceded her in death in 1975 after which she never remarried. Many years later she retired to Florida and at the age of 95 moved to Ohio to be near her granddaughter’s family.

Imelda is survived by her youngest sister Florence Steele of Maine, her daughter Rita (Robert) Ridgard of Dublin, Ohio, her grandsons Ken and Jim Ridgard of Florida, her granddaughter Debra (Daniel) Sabo of Dublin, Ohio, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, with a fourth expected in March.

Imelda was a woman of great strength, quiet reserve and a dry wit. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

A memorial service will take place at St Brigid of Kildare, in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 7179 Avery Rd, Dublin, OH 43017 at 11 am, Wednesday Dec 11, 2024
