Douglas "Doug" Wayne Krause, 83, of The Villages, Florida passed peacefully from this life into Eternal Life at 4:08 PM on Reformation Day, Thursday October 31, in the Year of our Lord and God, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in LaCrosse, Wisconsin upon Tuesday, October 13, 1936 by Raymond and Hazel Krause, née Hermanson, of German/Scandinavian stock, he lettered in many sports (baseball, football, track & field, and basketball) in high school and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (UWL).
He spent over 40 years in Chemistry, first serving his country as a Sergeant in the Army’s Biological Warfare division, launching Project Echo as the first passive communications satellite experiment. Subsequently, specializing in Analytical Chemistry at DuPont de Nemours, Inc., he worked at The Experimental Station “Blue-Sky Laboratories" in Wilmington, Delaware, and then paint production in Moberly, Missouri. After retiring from DuPont, he joined Pittsburgh Plate Glass “PPG” in Delaware, Ohio where he invented new methodologies involving instrumental chemical testing. He retired for the final time on “April Fool’s Day," April 1, 1998 and moved to the premier golf community in The Villages, Florida for his last 20 years of life.
Being an avid golfer with three holes-in-ones (with witnesses to his credit), he happily played golf daily during his retirement. When he was not on the golf course, he was an avid baseball fan, traveling with family and friends to baseball games and always keeping a handwritten scorebook with great detail at each game.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Cheryl "Cherri" Lyn Kinzler (Kenneth) and his only-begotten son, Douglas "Doug Jr." Scott Krause, plus five grandchildren, Katie Kinzler Shaull (Joe), Janelle Nelson, William Kinzler, Joseph Nelson, and Tara Kinzler. His sister, Cheryl Vagi (Mike) of Terrell, Texas, will affectionately remember him.
His Life Testimony was of a Sensitive/Sensible, Loving, and Intellectual Father, Husband, and Friend.
A “Celebration of Doug’s Life” will take place in The Villages, Florida on Saturday, January 18, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Doug may be made to the charity of your own choosing.
“In the Way of the Righteousness is the Life, and in His Pathway, there is no death.” (Proverbs 12:28)
“May God Bless and Keep you all who have read this.”
