who left us on April 29, 2026 at the age of 75 surrounded by his immediate family.
Bill was born on November 28, 1950 in Van Nuys, California to William and Majorie Haub. He is survived by his loving family, including his beloved sweetheart Mara Lee Haub. She was the light of his life and their love story is an eternal one that was a joy to watch and learn from. He is also survived by his children: Corrie Anne McArthur (Spouse: Laurence Dean McArthur); Darren William Haub; Kimberly Rae Henderson (Spouse: Cory Eugene Henderson), as well as 10 cherished grandchildren: Benita, Josette, Isaac, Trey, Ava, Starra, Kiara, Damon, Davis & Kinslee, as well as a great-granddaughter, Raelle, and another great-grandson on the way. He is also survived by his siblings Suzanne Ashdown and Steven Haub. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Kandace Evans, Kevin Haub and Deborah Hack.
Bill was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served throughout his life in many capacities within the church, influencing many young and old people alike. His dedication and service was an important part of who he was and how he lived his life.
Bill’s work ethic was unmatched. He worked up until just weeks before his passing. He started working at the age of 14 in an optometrist’s office and at age 15 at Marina Del Ray servicing yachts. He was a skilled builder and with his contractor’s license spent most of his career overseeing both residential and commercial projects. The highlight of his career was a large community of residential and commercial buildings- Seabridge in Ventura, CA- where he brought the Pacific Ocean into the development. To this day, many of his co-workers consider him to be a close friend and mentor.
Outside of his family, faith and career, Bill had a passion for fast cars, boats and dirt bikes. He could usually be found building something in the garage out of wood, fixing vehicles or appliances, or racing anything he could. He taught his children and grandchildren many of these skills, which they all remember with fondness and will treasure forever. He wasn’t much of a traveler, but did venture to Alaska to fish and Hawaii to snorkel with the love his life. His happy place was anywhere there was water- but especially Carpinteria Beach in California-where he spent years taking his family on camping trips and long, sunny days of surfing and body surfing. He loved music- appreciating all genres and talent. He liked his music loud and preferably with a bass guitar. He shared this love of music with his children and grandchildren who have memories of blasting music with him during car rides or in his living room.
Above all, Bill will be remembered for his ability to make everyone laugh with his sense of humor and his genuine love that left anyone who visited with him feeling seen and important. He was a fixer of all things- whether it be an engine, a water leak or more importantly a frustrated or broken heart. He listened intently, thought things through carefully, and always had the right answers to any of life’s challenges.
His presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His family is comforted knowing that he will be cheering them on from the other side waiting to give them one of his famous bear hugs when they join him. He was one of a kind in so many ways and touched the lives of many who had the privilege to know and love him.
