June 22, 1943 – March 14, 2025
Tim, TD, or Timmy, beloved husband, father, (great) grandfather, proud Marine, friend, and bread winner passed away at home in Gladstone, Oregon, at the age of 81. Tim was born in Wise County, Virginia. His parents were William Claude Jr. and Myrtle Gwendolyn Martin.
He was married to Sharon Ann Martin for over 60 years. Tim is survived by his children, Tim Jr. (Devon), Dawn, and Mike, as well as four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his brother, Bill. He was preceded in death by his bride, parents, his sister Cindy, and some great friends and is now reunited with them in peace.
Tim grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from Young High School. He has very fond memories of high school football games and sock hops. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Waikiki, where he met and married his blushing bride. Through six decades of hard work and commitment they built a family, a lifetime of memories, and a bond that stood the test of time.
Tim worked as a long-haul truck driver for 32 years, working at Freightliner for 20 of those years. He loved watching football and basketball, played golf every day he was in town, until he could no longer hold a golf club, could complete absolutely any home project with skill, had a beautiful lawn, was an Elvis fan and a good man. He loved camping and boating, his grandchildren, 1950's rock'n'roll music, and University of Tennessee football.
Everyone loved Timmy. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial will be held in his honor at Eastmoreland Golf Course on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 11:30a. A reception will follow. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
