Terry Lars Woitte, 67, passed away on September 10, 2019 at his home in Vancouver, WA. He was born on October 30, 1951 in Hoven, South Dakota to parents Robert and Gloria Woitte. One of 4 children, Terry spent much of his childhood moving around the US and to Japan while his father served in the military. At 19, Terry joined the U.S. Air Force himself, and continued to serve honorably for 24 years until his retirement in 1994. While serving he received numerous awards, most notably the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Achievement Medal. Terry then went on to earn his Associate Degree at Hutchinson Technical College in Minnesota. He moved to Vancouver and was an employee at JJ Calibrations until he retired in 2017.
Terry loved his family more than anything else, and went on to have two children, and three grandchildren. He adored spending time with all of them, taking the kids on road trips to the various National Parks and collecting commemorative plates from each one, attending school events, or just watching movies together. Always a great handyman, he could be counted on to help with any household project or assembly that might be needed. Though a calm and quiet man, Terry was always fun and loving to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Robert. He is survived and missed by his mother Gloria Woitte, son Shawn Woitte, daughter Lorelie Sharp, grandchildren Nolan, Jasmine and Morgan; brother Rick Woitte and his wife Mary; sister Deborah Woitte and her husband Jaime Michaels; nieces and nephews Brian, Erin, Connor, Keith and Kellie; and his beloved dogs Bandit and Bosley.
A military honors ceremony will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 25 at 11:30 a.m., where Terry will be laid to rest.
