August 15, 1957 – January 4, 2026
Sheila Kim Sheeler, age 68, passed away on January 4, 2026, in Portland, Oregon, due to complications following heart surgery.
Sheila was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the second of four children born to B. Dale Munkus and Anna Belle Green. She was later joined by her younger brother, Dallas, born to B. Dale Munkus and stepmother Wanda Munkus.
She spent her teenage years in Monrovia, California, where her vibrant spirit first took the stage. In high school, she discovered her deep love for singing and acting — passions that would remain at the heart of her life.
Sheila married Roy Steed, and together they welcomed two daughters, Stacy Dawn and Trisha Renee. They later settled in Atascadero, California. After that chapter of her life closed, Sheila married William (Bill) Spencer, and together they had a daughter, Ashley Kae Spencer.
As the years went on, Sheila fully embraced her creative spirit. She became an active and beloved member of the Pioneer Players and spent many years performing with local music groups and rock bands throughout the Central Coast. Music was not simply a hobby for Sheila — it was an extension of her soul. She lit up every stage she stepped onto, and those who saw her perform remember her powerful voice, infectious energy, and undeniable presence.
She later married Stuart (Stu) Sheeler, and they remained devoted to one another for 35 years until her passing.
Professionally, Sheila built a respected and steady career. She worked as a compliance officer at Aceiro Winery, served as an office manager for a local contractor, and ultimately dedicated many years to San Luis Obispo County as a supervisory account clerk in the Tax Collector’s Office. She retired in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, competence, and warmth among her colleagues.
In retirement, Sheila moved to Vancouver, Washington, and later to Battle Ground, Washington, where she found peace and tranquility surrounded by nature and family.
Above all else, Sheila was a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She had the biggest heart and loved fiercely. She took care of everyone she encountered — often putting others before herself without hesitation. She was hilarious, sharp-witted, intelligent, and deeply intuitive. Her laughter could fill a room. Her compassion could steady a storm. To know Sheila was to feel seen, supported, and loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B. Dale and Anna Belle Munkus, and her first husband, Roy Steed.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart Sheeler; her brothers Richard, Alan (Darlene), and Dallas (Karla); her sister Cheryl; her daughters Stacy (Eric), Trisha (Jason), and Ashley; her stepchildren Lindsay (Beau) and Brice (Marc); her grandchildren Hannah, Tyler, Danny, and Rowan; step-grandchildren Soquel and Kieran; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews Lexi, Sydney, Adrianne, and Brandon, and their families.
Those who knew Sheila knew she shared a special and deeply personal spiritual relationship with her Heavenly Father.
She will be laid to rest beside her mother in Eugene, Oregon, following an intimate family gathering.
