November 15, 1942 – January 3, 2025
Sharon Ann Martin (Bennard), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Gladstone, Oregon, at the age of 82. Sharon was born in Portland, Oregon, to Antonio and Adeline Bennard.
She was married to Timothy Douglas Martin Sr. for over 60 years. Sharon is survived by her children, Tim Jr. (Devon), Dawn, and Mike, as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beverly, and her treasured dog Sheroot and is now reunited with them in peace.
Sharon grew up in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood of Portland and graduated from Grant High School, where she fondly remembered her time as a proud General. After high school, she moved to Waikiki, where she met and married her husband, Timothy. Together, they built a beautiful life.
Sharon was passionate about many things, including swimming, which she did six times a week for 65 years. She worked at Bilquist Elementary School for 32 years, where her love of children and her fun-loving spirit shone through. She was well-known for her love of tetherball and four-square, activities that brought joy to the kids who adored her.
An artist at heart, Sharon had an immense love for her Italian heritage, her beautiful garden, painting, calligraphy, and her delicious cooking – traits that will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a lover of 1950s rock 'n' roll music and, even with advanced dementia, could still sing along to every song from that era.
Sharon's vibrant spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held in her honor at Sacred Heart Parish in the Brooklyn neighborhood on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Recitation of the Rosary at 10:40 AM.
Donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America in her memory.
