Long time Kihei resident, Scott (72), passed away on October 15th at home in Happy Valley, Oregon, surrounded by his family. He was born in Pomona, California to Dr. Daniel and Helen Castile. He spent his early years in Capistrano Beach learning to love the ocean and the travels he took with his family. He is survived by his brother Brett (Linda) and sister Dona (Edwin).
His love of traveling, surfing, sailing, diving and motoring through the desert took him on many adventures around the globe. He served two years in the Peace Corps where he met and married Sharon. They returned and had two children, Tracy (Masako), and Emily (Tim) and settled in Hawai’i in 1987. He had 2 grandsons, Jude and Will and one granddaughter Megan. His previous relationship gave him a son,Don.
He worked at Central Pacific Marine in Lahaina for over 25 years and repaired marine engines all over the Hawaiian Islands. His days off were spent in and on the ocean, where he shared his love of all it had to offer, teaching us to dive, kayak and snorkel the reefs.
We will join with his hanai son, Aaron Bement, to take him on his last adventure to scatter his ashes on December 10th at his favorite dive site, “the tank”. Please join us at the PWF boat, the Explorer, at 7:30 am in Maalaea Harbor.
