Riio Van Huffel, 34, of Portland Oregon, passed away on February 19th, 2025, from a tragic accident. Riio is survived by their parents, Gary and Tammy Van Huffel, and their siblings, Hana Van Huffel, Adriane (McKinney) Van Huffel, and Crystal (Fleming) Van Huffel. Riio was born on March 31st, 1990, in French Camp, California. At the age of 4, Riio and their younger sister Crystal were adopted by Gary and Tammy Van Huffel, joining older siblings Hana and Adriane, to complete a family full of love. Riio grew up in Salmon, ID, where they enjoyed exploring the foothills, reading, and playing saxophone. They were a vibrant and energetic child, who delighted in making people laugh. Riio graduated high school in Spokane, WA, and later went on to pursue their passion for beauty and self-expression by attending Phagans School of Beauty in Salem, OR. Riio was a force—loud, bold, and always reaching for more. They lived unapologetically. Whether singing or binge-watching reality TV, they found happiness in the things that brought them comfort. Riio’s family will remember them most for their laughter, their good heart, and their remarkable ability to adapt to the many challenges they faced.
A memorial will be held in April.
