

She/he was a beautiful soul whose light remained visible even through life’s darkest moments. Madilyn had a rare way of finding brightness in every situation, always looking on the positive side and making things work no matter what life placed before her/him.
She/he faced many challenges throughout her/his life, including years of struggle with addiction and a lifelong journey with mental health. Despite these hardships, Madilyn carried a strength and peace within her/him that those who loved her/him will always remember. In the end, she/he made peace with the choices she/he had made and the life she/he had lived, leaving behind a story of resilience, honesty, and hard-won acceptance.
Madilyn was deeply loved by her mother, Dawn Matheny, and by the father figures who were part of her/his life, including Scott Matheny, Jerome Martinez, Daniel Vanzinni, and Justin Welch. She/he is also survived by siblings Brett Matheny, Riley Christie, MacKenna Murdock-Moore, Emilyia Matheny, and Andrew Matheny, along with many other family members and loved ones whose names are too numerous to list, but who will miss her/him deeply and carry her/his memory forward.
To those who knew her/him, Madilyn will be remembered for her/his beautiful spirit, resilience, and ability to keep finding light even in life’s hardest moments. To her/his family, she/he will always be so much more than the struggles faced—she/he will always be remembered for her/his heart, strength, and the love given in her/his own way. She/he will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
In honor of Madilyn’s memory, her/his favorite song, “July” by Leon Bridges and Noah Cyrus, remains a reminder of her/his spirit and the emotions carried so deeply.
