James Kennedy

James Kennedy passed away peacefully at his home in Salem, OR. on May 6, 2018. He was born in Hale Center, Texas on April 17, 1930, and was one of 6 children born to John & Alta (Taylor) Kennedy. The family later moved to Arizona, and eventually settled in Southern California. That is where he met his wife Joanne Stovall, whom he married in 1951, after serving in the Army during WW2. After retirement, he and Joanne moved to Oregon in the early 1990’s. Jim was a God fearing, loving and gentle man, with a heart as big as his native State. He and his wife attended Grace Lutheran Church in Grants Pass, Oregon for many years. He was well liked by many, and very loved by even more. He was preceded in death by his 5 siblings, his loving wife of 61 years, and his son Matthew. He is survived by his son Timothy (Karmen) Kennedy of Salem, OR., grandchildren Ashley (Imad) Hares of Vancouver, WA., Timothy Jr. (Stephanie) of Las Vegas, NV., Melanie (Tony) Schiffer of Mountain Home, ID., Joseph of Vancouver, WA., and Mallory (Andres) Witrak of Norfolk, VA. Brother-in-law Carl (Linda) Stovall of Portland, OR., and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. The service will be at 10am on May 23, 2018, also at Willamette National Cemetery.
