Grace Eloise Hovey, 61, died naturally and peacefully on the 28th of March 2018 in Portland, Oregon after a long battle with breast cancer. She was living in a care facility on a beautiful estate with a dog who didn't bark and a cat that comforted her on her bed. She was able to enjoy the fireplace and beautiful gardens with the help of her amazing caregivers; Sandy, Angela, Brenna, and Kipp. We also sincerely thank Kaiser Hospice nurses, Glenn and Patty, as well as social worker, Paul, for the wonderful care, compassion and support given to Grace during her final weeks and days. She felt content and at peace before she passed. She will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered in the San Francisco Bay as per her wishes.
Grace was born on the 2nd of July 1956 at Stanford Hospital in San Francisco, California to Robert Pope Hovey and Nancy Katherine Wolcott Hovey. When she graduated, Grace started working at the City of Sacramento Planning Department as an associate planner in environmental and CEQA compliance. She retired in 2007. She lived in Sacramento, California from 1990 to 2016 when she relocated to Portland Oregon.
Grace enjoyed travelling, hiking, and other outdoor pursuits. She became an expert in early American pottery, art glass, perfume bottles, and antique furniture through her years of research and collecting. It was one of her joys in life to find an elusive hidden treasure.
