December 22, 1932 – February 11, 2026
Donald Borden, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1932, in Aberdeen, WA, to Clair and Margaret Borden. Donald lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, craftsmanship, family, and a deep love of the water. He made his home in Lakeview, Portland and Tigard, Oregon, where he built lasting friendships.
Donald graduated from Lakeview High School in Lakeview, OR, and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Menard in Southeast Asia (from 1950-1953). His service was a source of lifelong pride.
Following his military service, Donald built a successful career in real estate, as an agent and as a manager. His family was a constant source of pride and joy. He was always up for a steak dinner or a game of golf, and he was a jokester with a dry sense of humor.
He married Harriet Weber in 1993, and they had 35 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family.
A lifelong lover of sailing and boats, Donald found peace and happiness on the water. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, particularly dogs and cats, who were constant and beloved companions throughout his life. Donald was an accomplished woodworker. He was especially known for carving beautiful wooden birds and crafting exquisite rocking horses for his grandchildren — heirlooms that will be treasured for generations.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Weber, and his brother Richard. He is survived by his son, Daniel Blanchard; his stepchildren, Mark (Kelly) Weber, Steve (Suzanne) Weber, and Carolyn (Ty) Hastings. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Timothy (Rachael) Weber, Jessica (Clayton) Baker, Stephanie (Robert) Strys, Kate (Brandon) Nelson, Elisabeth Hastings, Lauren Weber, and Daria Weber; and one great-grandchild, Rowan Strys. He is also survived by a niece and nephews in Nevada: Steven, Jamie, Brenda and Dale Borden.
