David Clark Kolberg, 71, passed away on December 31, 2017, in Vancouver, Washington. He was born on September 15, 1946, in Brenham, TX, to parents Donald Clark and Rachel Peters Kolberg. David lived on the family dairy farm in Eagle Lake, TX, along with his two brothers, William and Pierce, who preceded him in death. His cousin, Gail Brown of Marshall, TX, lived with them on the dairy for a short time and grew up alongside him, as well. The family moved to Austin where David graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. As an adult, David joined the Air Force, where he served honorably before his return home to complete his education at the University of Texas. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work. He began a lifelong career that would lead to a private practice of his own, consulting, and critical incident debriefing before retirement.
David was everything a person would want in a friend or father: loving, calm, non-judgmental, compassionate and funny. Incredibly intelligent, he was an amazing problem solver, often fixing things around his home or garage. He also loved music, whether listening to his favorite singer/songwriters, playing the guitar, or attending the opera, music was an important part of his life.
Family was incredibly important to David, and he loved to spend time playing with his grandkids, or sitting calmly with his dog Chester. In 1994, he married Barbara Robinette, and they were together until her passing in 2016. David is loved and missed by his daughter Jennifer (Brian) Morgan, step-daughter Abby Harris, and grandchildren Carter, Emma, Chloe, Olivia, and Leo; as well as many other cousins, friends and loved ones.
