

He passed away August 20, 2025 at age 84.
He grew up in Cloverdale, Lebanon, Scio, Ione, and Madras, Oregon.
After graduating from Madras High School, he went to one semester of college at Judson Baptist College in Portland, Oregon.
Then he joined the navy in 1961 as an electronic field seaman recruit. He was shipped out to Yokosuka, Japan to go aboard the USS Orleck DD 886 for about 2 years. Then to Long Beach, CA for the destroyer to be remodeled.
During his life at sea he was in 3 typhoons. He really enjoyed trouble shooting the mark 25 radar and all the electronic and electrical gear as well as the analog computer.
After getting out of the navy he returned home to Lebanon, Oregon and got a job at Western Veneer Plywood plant owned by Willamette Industries, where he worked summers while going to school at OSU in Pharmacy.
He married Lola Mae Wolfe August 24, 1968. He missed their 57th anniversary by 4 days. Their first home was in Corvallis where Lola taught school while he continued in Pharmacy School.
Upon graduation they moved to Madras where they had a 1/3 interest in a pharmacy next to his older brother's department store. They were there for 1 year.
Next they moved to Portland where Dave took a one year training in medical technology.
They bought their first home in Beaverton in 1975. He worked as a pharmacist at Holiday Park Hospital, Thrifty Drugs and Fred Meyer. Following that he worked for Safeway for about 18 years. He retired in 2005.
In retirement he enjoyed working on his properties, including 20 acres of timberland near Sandy.
He loved to spend time in the outdoors, often with a weed-wacker or chainsaw in hand.
The last 2 months he was excited about moving to a home just a mile from his 20 acres.
He was an avid reader and had a curiosity about many things. He always had to have a book and highlighter nearby if he wasn't doing physical work.
He deeply loved his family and he loved Jesus.
He believed in Jesus Christ as the one and only true Lord and Savior, the Son of God.
He spent time reading his Bible, praying for others, and he enjoyed fellowship with other believers.
He is survived by his wife, Lola, 2 sons, Rob Hatfield and Ron Hatfield, daughter-in-law, Melanie Hatfield and 4 grandchildren: Denali, Shasta, Thielsen and Baker.
A memorial service will be Sept. 6, 2025 at 1 PM at Arise Family Fellowship, Sandy, OR
