Charles H. Jorgensen, 86, passed away June 19, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Clarence and Mildred (Faber) Jorgensen. He graduated from the University of Illinois. In his early years, he worked as a lineman for the railroad and later became a sales manager for telecommunication companies. He married Frances H. Chapman and together they raised two children. Charles and Frances made their home in the Chicago, Illinois area before moving to Fresno, California and later Beaverton, Oregon. Frances passed away in 2011.
Charles is survived by his daughter Karen O’Leary (Patrick), son Carl Jorgensen, grandchildren Meghan, Ryan, Jayna (Leah), and Michael O’Leary, and great grandchildren Nikita and Anastasia.
Charles lived many years at the Beaverton Lodge Retirement Residence where he was known for his sense of humor and for showing a variety of eclectic and foreign films on Sunday nights. In his last year, he moved to Love4Care Adult Family Home in Portland. Despite his failing health, Charles continued to joke with his caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hilarity for Charity, a charity dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring change, and accelerating progress in Alzheimer’s care, research, and support.
