Alvin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vivian, daughters Candace Weston (Troy) of Turner (OR), Melanie Ferguson of Salem (OR), Joanne Ferguson of Tucson (AZ), Belinda Polfe of Eugene (OR), sons James Ferguson of Seattle(WA), Tom Ferguson and Kevin Ferguson both of Spokane(WA) and Step-Son Floyd Newton of Bend (OR). Alvin was preceded in death by two sons Daniel Ferguson and Eugene Ferguson. Alvin had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, he was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to many. Alvin was also a man of God, who had a strong faith in his heavenly father.
Alvin loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed many memorable hunting trips with his dear friend John Peters of the Oregon Coast. Al was forced to give up his beloved hunting during the later years, due to his health, but that did not stop him from sharing wonderful stories about his trips with all that would listen.
Al was an all around wonderful human being; he was deeply loved and admired by many (especially his children) and his passing is a deeply painful loss.
A special thank you to the people at Madras Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days. I also want to say that it was a profound privilege to be able to hold my father’s hand and comfort him during his final days and I will forever cherish those moments. Hold your loved ones closely.
A memorial service will be held at Madras Christian Church on Saturday, October 13 at 2:00. In leu of flowers, donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Al’s name are being encouraged.
