Gene was born at home in Kansas City, Missouri, with a big smile and head of curly golden red hair. He was a kindhearted, bigger-than life man. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed building relationships and entertaining guests. He enjoyed spending time with his bride, Karen, his three girls, and extended family. He had several favorite pastimes; bowling, fishing, hunting, playing golf and watching sports. He enjoyed playing cribbage with David, his grandsons and special others. He served on a Navy ship stationed in Japan during the Korean War, from 8/54 to 7/58.
