Shannon Lynne Mena

Shannon Lynne Mena, age 38, of Holt, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of a seizure on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at home. The daughter of Wendi Sue Nelson & Juan Romero Mena, she was born on April 5, 1985 in Lansing.

Shannon loved her children. She loved to spend time in the kitchen cooking delicious food for her family. Shannon also had an immense love of animals and would even feed the neighborhood skunks and possums.

Shannon was survived by the love of her life, James; their four children, JD (17), Julius (15), Jayla (12) and Jaylianna (9); parents, Wendi Nelson & Juan (Jennifer) Mena; siblings, Eric (Kali) Nelson II, Nicholas Nelson, Adam (Emily) Mena, Ryan (Angela) Lopez, Juan (Brieyana) Mena and Bonifacio Mena; very special aunt, Amey Wilson; grandparents, who helped raise her, Gale & Sue Wilson; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 8th, at noon at City Life Lansing, 5825 Wise Rd., Lansing, MI 48911 (The old Harry Hill High School). Followed by a celebration of life at 1pm.

Because Shannon was so young and without insurance the family is asking for contributions to help cover expenses. Contributions may be made at shannon mena memorial fund, organized by nicole contreras or directly to Shannon’s grandparents, Gale & Sue Wilson.
