Ron went to Catholic Central High School and graduated from Aquinas College. He was a long-time salesperson in the welding industry having worked for: Layman, Mittler and Praxair welding supply companies; successful businesses in the same building for 36 yrs. With that he enjoyed creating metal and wood artwork, such as intricate birdhouses. Ron served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. He played saxophone in a band for 20+ years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Stephan; son, Jason; brother, Robert; and parents-in-law, Julius and Emilie Maxim. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet (Maxim) Stephan; sons, Christopher "Dakota", Michael and Matthew (Elyssa); sister, Joan Stephan; brother, Edwin "Bud" (Pat) Stephan; grandchildren, Zeppelin and Zoe Zeerip and Lydia Stephan; daughter-in-law, Marialyce Zeerip; along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Ron to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 52nd St SE, Kentwood, MI 49508 with Father Peter Vu celebrating, Rosary at 10:00 am before Mass. Interment to follow at Holy Cross cemetery, Walker, MI.
