Rick retired from The State of MI after 18 years as a computer help desk technician and was a member of Riverview Church. He loved to work with his hands and woodworking was a favorite past time. His beautiful bowls and knick knacks grace many homes of his family and friends. He was a great teacher being patient to explain step by step how to fix your computer problem or how to prepare this meal or why you should take this supplement. He loved to cook and did so for his family his whole life. His pie crust was second to none.
Travel was top of his list and Hawaii was his favorite, especially taking pictures on the beach at sunset. Camping with friends was a regular pastime and fishing was tops as well. Teaching his son and grandson to fish and going so far as to be a sales rep for a fishing tackle company.
Gadgets were always on the Amazon list as were puzzles and toys. You could always find a puzzle to figure out or a woodworked blocks to put together at his house. He also enjoyed saving up and going to the casino every few months. Rick was a conservative man but at times he would surprise us by doing something out of character like hula dancing at a luau. His laughs was so infectious you just had to join him laughing.
Rick loved date night with his lovely wife. You could not schedule other activities for Friday night because that was date night, no question. It's your birthday, move it around, it's date night and always to the movies. He loved the movies and collecting the movies that were his favorite.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rob; brother-in-law, Tim Gruhn; sister-in-law, Cheryl DeVeau; niece, Anastasia Jackson. Surviving is his wife, Cricket; son, Tom; grandson, Kameron; great granddaughter, Anavei; brother, Ron; several Nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 10:30 am to 12 noon on Monday, December 9th at Riverview Church Westside, 7533 W St Joseph Hwy, Lansing . Memorial services starting at noon, with a luncheon following. Dish to pass for the luncheon would be appreciated but not required.
