

Norva retired from Meijer Beauty Salon after a long career as a beautician. She enjoyed knitting and at 94 was still knitting hats to give to charities and prayer shawls for anyone facing challenges. Norva had a signature style defined by vibrant colors, animal prints, and striking hats and was always known for dressing and decorating for the season. Over the years, she lifted the spirits of family and friends by sharing numerous greeting cards for all occasions. She was known for her large collection of ornamental frogs and had a great love for the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
Norva was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Bylsma, her parents, George and Beatrice Arends, brother, Bob Arends, nephew, Mark Arends, brother in law, Bob Broton, daughter in law, Jane Elkins, and son, Russ Elkins. She was also preceded in death by first husband, Tom Elkins, and his parents, Roy and Hildred Elkins.
Surviving are sons Randy Elkins, Robert Elkins (Susan), and Roy Elkins (Stephanie), brother, Richard Arends (Linda), sister in law, Dort Gould (Al), nieces Kris Smith (Vic) and Dawn DeCamp, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are Gene’s four children and their families.
A graveside memorial service will be held later this summer.
