Neil Richard “Sweet” passed away on December 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Neil was not only a Marine but also served as a member of the elite Special Forces Green Berets, a testament to his bravery, discipline, and unwavering commitment to his country.
Neil was the cherished father of Neil Jr., Traci, and Keighty; and the beloved stepfather, of Codiee (Janee) Lofquist and Monique (Jeff) Wantland. He also leaves behind his devoted brother, Ronald “Skull” (Jan) Sweet. He was predeceased by his son, Nic; brother, Patrick; sister, Dena; and his parents, Neil “Dick” and Deloris “Pat” Sweet. Neil’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Neil’s life was defined by service and camaraderie. As the president of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club for many years, he exemplified leadership, loyalty, and a deep commitment to his fellow veterans. He also worked as a skilled pipefitter for Brunswick, where he contributed his expertise with dedication and pride.
Known for his love of Black Velvet and the companionship of his most recent beloved four-legged companion, Puddin’. Neil was a man who brought warmth and laughter to everyone he encountered. While also being so brutally honest, you may question your own existence.
Neil will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a man who fought fiercely for his country and the things he loved. His family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
