Jerome (Jerry aka Coins / Kaz) Eugene Kasmauski, 85, of Norton Shores MI, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Day Springs Assisted Living in Norton Shores. Born to immigrant parents, Stephan Kasmauski and Genovefa (nee) Dobski, on May 22, 1939, in Chicago IL.
Jerry was raised in Spring Lake MI; was a 1957 graduate of Grand Haven Senior High School then went on to serve in the US Army from February 1958 - February 1960. Jerry began his career at the age of 10, as a caddy, at the Spring Lake Country Club. He spent 62+ years as a proud member of IBEW, local union 275, as a journeyman electrician. Jerry retired from the maintenance department of Muskegon Public Schools in 2002. During the recession in the early 1980's, Jerry would travel around the Midwest to find electrician work to support his family, and for a time, would drive through the night every Sunday to arrive in time for work in Buffalo, NY each Monday morning. Jerry loved to hunt, fish, golf, play the guitar, collect coins, metal detect, go antiquing, and tell a tall tale. The last 20 years Jerry transitioned to online golf to play with his nephew Jens. Jerry also had a passion for the UP, and a love of airplanes. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was also known for bringing his famous baked beans to many potlucks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Steven, Bill, and Robert; sisters, Lorraine Eskildsen and Christine Richter; mother-in-law, Bessie Dahlgren; and brother-in-law, Phil Yedinak. On February 11, 1961 he married Lois Jean Henderson who survives him. As well as Jerry's four children, Larry Kasmauski (Lisa) of Norton Shores, MI, Cheryl Zorn (Ralph Hobrat) of Norton Shores, MI, Pam Attridge of Marietta, GA and Linda Fechner (W. Scott Montgomery) of Allendale, MI; one sister, Theresa Girard (LeRoy) of Fremont, MI; sister-in-law, Bernita (Dahlgren) Yedinak of Grand Rapids, MI; nine grandchildren, Rachel Zaragoza (Sergio) , Trevor Zorn (Tayler) , Taylor Zorn (Tyler Kirksey), Melissa Myers (Nick) , Alex Kasmauski, Logan Fechner, Ashley Fechner (fiancé Derek Goderis), Ryan Fechner and Will Attridge, lll; six great grandchildren, Leo, Layla, Lucas, Jameson, Henrik and Armando; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes he is to be cremated and there will be no funeral or memorial services.
