Janice "Jan" Mary Cunningham, age 83, of Coopersville, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Fountain View Assisted Living in Coopersville. Jan was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all of us.
Born to Glenn and Eileen Keller on September 10, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Cunningham, on October 21, 1961. They resided in Grand Rapids until 1978, when they moved their family to Winchester, Virginia.
Jan loved to spend time with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor, mixed with a little sarcasm. She had a way to make people laugh. In her spare time Jan loved to sew, knit, crochet, make jewelry, fish, and country line dance. Jan and Dick were country line dance instructors for many years.
Jan retired from FEMA at the age of 62, after working on Mount Weather for 10 years. At that time Jan and Dick bought a motorhome, in which they traveled and lived in for 8 years. They then resided in Englewood, Florida, for 6 years. In 2017 they moved back to Michigan and have resided in Coopersville since that time.
Jan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Cunningham; daughters, Beth Taylor, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Debra (Tim) Culp, of Stephens City, Virginia; Christine (Michael) Host, of Coopersville, Michigan; and Melanie (James) Williams, of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Emilie (Eric) Murphy, Haley (Scott) Coe, Tim Culp, Nathan (Hayley) Culp, David Host, Steven Host, Melissa Host, Trey Williams, and Courtney Williams; seven cherished great-grandchildren, Camila, Charlotte, CJ, Sonny, Niklaus, Mason, and Hayden; brothers, James (Eileen) Keller and William Keller; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Eileen Keller; sisters, Phillys Czerwinski and Carol Whittington; and brother, Thomas Keller.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Jan on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 18784 8th Avenue, Conklin, Michigan. Her family will receive visitors one hour prior to Mass, and there will be a luncheon immediately after Mass for all who would like to attend.
