Gary Allen Barber

Gary was born on January 15, 1948, in Grand Rapids, to Kenneth and Lena (Muchler) Barber. He spent more than 40 years working at Smith Industries, where he built a long and meaningful career.

Gary was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being out on the golf course and would take any opportunity he could to play a round. He also enjoyed traveling, making memories along the way, but what meant the most to him was being surrounded by his family. Gary treasured the time he spent with the people he loved, and his family will forever cherish the memories they made together.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Barber; mother, Lena Muchler; stepmother, Merelene Barber; brother, Dan Barber; and his sister, Linda Barber.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Barber; children, Paul Pope, Tina Cisler, Kenneth (Sherry) Barber, Thersa Conely (daughter-in-law), Randi (Kevin) Fetterman, and Heather Townsend; grandchildren, Emily Vantil (Jordon), Madyson, Makenna, Spencer (Crystal), Justin, Jacob (Kendra), Deandra (Curtis), Devon (Elizabeth), Karley, Brendan, Jeremy, Konner (Abby), Kollin (Krystal), Courtney (Candon), Sahara (Samuel), Riley (Nicholas), and Eathan; along with 21 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501, 49012 W Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012 on September 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
