Frederick Frank Pomeranz, age 82 of Holland, MI (formerly of Hansville, WA and Troy, Oh) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 surrounded by family at his home in Holland, MI. The son of Frank A. and Rosella B Pomeranz, he was born on June 27, 1943 in Toledo, OH.
He attended Rogers High School where he met his beloved Carol. They married in 1963 while he was attending Ohio State University. Fred and Carol made their home in Troy, Ohio and had three daughters. Fred enjoyed a long career as wood patternmaker and fine woodworker. In a leap of faith, Fred formed his own company, Vintage Woodworking in Troy Ohio. He went on to work in several pattern shops throughout Ohio and Washington State. Examples of his art live on in churches, city parks, private homes and businesses across the country.
Fred was a devout Christian and served many roles over the years in various Episcopal congregations in their community. He loved to travel, enjoyed watercolor painting, music, fishing, nature, reading and “making wood chips fly”. Above all else, he loved spending time with beloved family. Fred really loved a good bakery but no one held a candle to his wife's apple pie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosella; brother, Herbert Pomeranz; sisters, Mary Koehler and Wilma Shrock; and three loving Brittany Spaniels: Toby, Zoe and Hank. Survivors include his adoring wife, Carol (Curtis); children, Leslie (Patrick) Henley of Memphis, Mi., Megan (Daniel) Erickson of Michigan and Kathryn (Todd Puckett) Vaughan - Pomeranz of Houston, Tx.; grandchildren, Ellery, Ian, Armelle, Audrey, Madison, Nik, Rachel, Samantha, Sophia, Kenzie and Jackson; beloved brother-in law, Richard Curtis (Kathy); along with many nieces and nephews that he adored.
In the weeks before his death, Fred enjoyed a living funeral at his home with visits from loving family and dear friends, both near and far. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Crewell Health Hospice team who carried us, especially Sherrie, Sandy, Michelle, Honor, Katie and the midnight team members. May God bless you.
