Liz K. Krawczyk passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Elizabeth Cole; brothers, Edward (Betty) , Robert (Wanda); and sister-in-law, Alyce Jean; as well as brother-in-laws, Jack Welter, Daniel Krawczyk, and Robert Krawczyk. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred of 51 years; brother, Jim Cole; Fred's, sister, Gerry Welter; sister-in-laws, Patricia Krawczyk and Ruth Krawczyk; and brother-in-law, Norbert (Janet); along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families who have all been special in many ways during her life. Many neighbors over the years in Byron Center and Grandville were also very special people in Liz's life.
Liz was introduced to Fred by his college roommate who was working with her as teachers at the Byron Center middle school when Fred was on a work trip to Grand Rapids from the East side of Michigan. A long distance relationship developed and they were eventually married.
Later she went on to be an adjunct instructor at GRCC the very place where she began her higher education; Liz continued her education to obtain her BA from GVSU, and her MA from WMU which included a summer stint at the Oriel College of Oxford University. She impacted many young lives during her teaching career. Some students are probably still trying to get the red ink off their hands from the marked up compositions with extensive suggestions for improvement which were returned to them for their guidance.
Liz and Fred were fortunate to spend many winters in Sebring Florida where numerous friendships were enjoyed at the Bluffs of Sebring, the American Legions of Sebring and Avon Park, the VFW of Sebring and the Eagles of Sebring. They also enjoyed special friends at the Casino Club of Grand Rapids and the American Legion in Grandville.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will be planned for a future time.
