
Edward Weir Anderson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, died May 2, 2026, at the age 94. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 23, 1931, and graduated from Cass Tech of Detroit. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Detroit.
Upon graduation, Ed was drafted as a Marine reservist for a few years before being hired by Cadillac Motor Company as an engineer. Of note during his career, he was promoted to program manager for the Cadillac Allante. After 32 years he retired as a senior staff engineer for GM-BOC in 1987. As an avid car collector, Ed was an early member of the Classic Car Club of America, as well as the Cadillac LaSalle Club. Ed was an avid reader, reading hundreds of books since his retirement. He stayed involved with community and family after moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He was surrounded by family and friends of faith during a short battle with cancer, dying peacefully at home. Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne (Drazen) Anderson; second wife, Delores (Stocks) Anderson; and a grandson, Jason Anderson.
Ed will be missed by his sons, David and Alan; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
