Born with a quick wit and a generous spirit, Doris spent her life pouring herself out for others. As a mother of six, she worked tirelessly — not out of obligation, but out of love. She gave her time, her energy, and her heart freely, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Her faith was the anchor of her life. She served the Lord with humility and devotion, living out her beliefs through quiet acts of kindness and a willingness to put others first. If someone needed help, Doris was already there. If someone needed encouragement, she had the right words. If someone needed love, she gave it without hesitation.
Doris had a gift for making people feel cared for. She was funny and delightfully quick with a comeback, but beneath her humor was a tenderness that shaped everyone who knew her. Her love was sacrificial, steady, and rooted in her faith. She lived what she believed, and her life became a testimony of God’s grace in motion.
She leaves behind her children: Karyl King (Harry), Eleanor Kane (Randy), Bryan Hall, Paul Hall; and step-daughter, Rosine Cantu (Martin); son-in-law Eugene Bambach; brother Almer Dieterman (Roberta); Diane Wenn; Darla Smith (Rolland); and sister-in-law, Irene Dieterman.
Doris is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Rexal Hall; her daughter Theresa Bambach and her son Gregory Hall; her parents Alma and Anne Dieterman; her sisters Joyce Thumm (John), Jenny Dieterman, and Judy Middleton (Bob); and her brothers Merlin Dieterman (Jean) and Harry Dieterman; brother-in-law Joe Wenn; and daughter-in-law Kathryn Hall.
She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, along with extended family and countless others touched by her kindness.
A memorial service celebrating her life and legacy will be held at 11:00 a.m. November 7, 2026 at Community of Christ – Union Avenue, 2140 Union Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507.
