David Allen VanOordt, 77 years old, of Norton Shores, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Harbor Hospice of Muskegon. The son of Wesley and Kathryn VanOordt, he was born on March 16, 1948 in Grand Rapids.
Dave started working for his father, a Mason, in his early teens for 10+ years. Then for a carpenter until he was drafted into the Army. He was multi-talented and after his military service he worked for the Board of Light and Power, C&S Electric and finally retired from Quincy St. Inc. in Holland.
Dave was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church for 38 years, and a member of West Michigan Street Rod Association for 52 Years. He has been a part of a very close knit veterans and their wives group for 13 years.
Dave had one hobby all his life, building Street Rods. Over the years, he built 6 Street rods for himself and built or helped build at least 6 more for other people. His wiring was much in demand. He actually wanted to build the cars more than he wanted to drive them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Katheryn VanOordt. Surviving is his loving wife, Karen; two children, David James (Jennifer) of Spring Lake, MI, and Denise (Corey) Bailey of Barryton, MI; 7 grand-daughters; 8 great grand-children; and brother, Terrance, of Casper, Wyoming.
Visitation is at 10 am, with the Memorial service following at 11 am, on Saturday, February 21st, at Lakeshore Baptist Church, 17306 Church Hill Street, Grand Haven with a luncheon following.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of David to Muskegon County Veteran Affairs Food Bank.
